Proposition Bets in Craps

The game of craps undoubtedly is more complicated than the usual casino game. It is more difficult to understand and learn but it is undoubtedly more fun to play, as one would see in any regular casino. The game of craps is one of the most frequented and noisiest casino games there is. The craps game offers the same thrill of winning or losing money with a variety of bets to choose from.

Aside from the usual craps pass line, come line, don't pass and don't come bets there are also so-called proposition bets that offer higher payouts but with higher house advantage as well. Usually, the proposition bets are placed in the middle of the craps table with the craps stickman handling the bets.

The Any seven craps bet is a wager that the next roll will be a seven. The actual odds of rolling a seven are 5-1 but the casino pays a 4-1 payoff if the craps player wins this bet. The Any seven bet is also called the 'Big Red' as the place where craps players put their bets on the craps table has a big number seven that is color red.

A Horn bet involves wagering one unit of money each for the numbers 2, 3, 11 and 12. The Horn bet wins if any of these numbers come up in the next roll. The payout for this particular bet depends on which number actually materializes. The payout would be minus three units for the other three numbers that was lost. A 'Horn high' is betting an added $1 to one of the four choices, more commonly a $5 horn high yo bet with $1 each on 2, 3 and 12 and $2 for 11.

A Whirl or World bet in craps is a combination of the Any seven and horn bet where a craps player wagers that the next roll will either be 2, 3, 7, 11 or 12. A 7 roll effectively becomes a push, as the 4-1 payout would be paid for the other four losing numbers.

A Field bet in craps wagers that the sum of the dice in the next roll will either be 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12. This bet pays 2-1 on the 2 or 12 number and even money on all the other numbers. Some casinos payout 3-1 on the 2 or 12 which effectively reduces their house advantage from a little over 5 % to only 2.7 %. The Field bet is placed between the don't pass line and the come box. This bet is handled by the craps players directly and not by craps stickman or dealers.
